How people move money through USDT.

A guide for people sending money between Russia and Kyrgyzstan. It is information, not a recommendation.

USDT and USDC are “stablecoins”: digital coins whose price is pegged to the US dollar (1 coin ≈ $1). People use them to send money to another country quickly, without intermediary banks.

How it works

  1. Buy USDT

Exchange rubles or soms for USDT at a licensed exchange office or on an exchange. The clearer the rate and the more transparent the platform, the fewer problems later.

  2. Choose the network

The sender and the recipient must use the same network. Most often it is TRC20 (the Tron network): usually the cheapest and fastest, a transfer takes minutes.

  3. Send to the recipient's wallet

Copy the recipient's address, check it twice and send a small test amount first. A blockchain transfer cannot be undone.

  4. Exchange into local currency

The recipient sells the USDT for rubles or soms at a licensed exchange office or on an exchange and withdraws the money to a card or in cash.

Networks

TRC20 (Tron)

The most popular network for USDT: fees are usually low and a transfer takes minutes.

ERC20 (Ethereum)

Reliable, but often more expensive and slower when the network is busy.

TON

Convenient inside the Telegram wallet; make sure both the sender and the recipient support this network.

What the law says

Kyrgyzstan

The circulation of virtual assets is governed by the Law “On Virtual Assets” (2022). Crypto exchanges and exchange offices operate under a licence from the financial-market regulator; individuals' income is treated under the general tax rules. Use licensed exchange offices.

Russia

The law regulating cryptocurrencies was adopted on 21 July 2026 and takes effect on 1 September 2026. Buying and selling crypto will only be possible through intermediaries in the Bank of Russia's register — mandatory from 1 July 2027. Paying with crypto inside the country remains prohibited. Non-qualified investors: no more than 300,000 RUB a year through one intermediary.

Banks and P2P in Russia

Russian banks have tightened checks under Federal Law 115-FZ: sending money to a stranger in a P2P exchange can get your card blocked even after a single transaction. Licensed exchange offices are safer than transfers to individuals.

Risks

  • Wrong network or address

A mistake is irreversible: the funds can be lost for good. Check the network and address before every transfer.

  • An exchange office's rate ≠ the world price

Exchange offices and P2P platforms charge a margin. Compare the final amount with the market price on this page.

  • Scammers

“Great deals” in messengers, fake websites and requests to send a code are typical schemes. Use official services only.

  • Volatility

The price of BTC, ETH and TON changes fast. Only USDT and USDC are considered stable — and even then with caveats.

  • Taxes and reporting

Income from operations may be taxable. For regular or large amounts, consult a specialist.
